Wyoming vs. Central Michigan prediction: Struggling offenses make side a pass
Analysis updated September 18, 2026 at 5:28 AM CDT
Both offenses rank near the bottom nationally. Central Michigan’s stronger early defensive ranking makes Wyoming difficult to back as a road favorite.
Offensive struggles meet a low total
Central Michigan ranks 137th of 138 FBS teams in total offense, and Wyoming ranks 126th through two games, according to Central Michigan University Athletics, the school’s official athletics site. Those struggles fit SPF’s 38.5-point total, but two games of yardage rankings alone don’t justify an under bet.
SPF lists Wyoming at -1.5 and -112 on the moneyline, with Central Michigan +1.5 and -108. The same school preview places the Chippewas 50th nationally in total defense and the Cowboys 97th. Wyoming’s modest offensive ranking advantage doesn’t establish that it should be favored against that defense. Pass on the side.
Flores gives Central Michigan a rushing threat
Coach Matt Drinkall confirmed in the preview that Angel Flores will start at quarterback. Flores rushed for 122 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown, in Central Michigan’s 13-10 win over Colgate. His running gives Wyoming a specific threat to contain, though that production still left the Chippewas with only 13 points.
Drinkall also said Jadyn Glasser and Marcus Beamon will be ready for use as the game warrants. Flores’ starting role is settled, but how Central Michigan divides the quarterback work remains uncertain.
