Pressure against production

North Alabama's pass rush gives it a way to disrupt Alcorn State, but covering SPF's 13.5-point spread requires more than slowing the run. University of North Alabama Athletics reports that the Lions averaged 3.0 sacks and allowed 92.7 rushing yards per game through three games. Those numbers favor the home team if it can force Alcorn State into obvious passing situations.

The Braves have shown they can produce through the air. According to Alcorn State University Athletics, quarterback Jaylon Tolbert entered with 869 passing yards and 10 touchdown passes. He earned SWAC Offensive Player of the Week after a 53-51 double-overtime win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. That passing output gives Alcorn State a route to scoring even if rushing yards are scarce.

North Alabama also has a productive receiving threat: its athletics department lists Xavier Johnson with 19 catches for 386 yards and two touchdowns. His connection with Destin Wade, who averaged 8.43 yards per pass attempt, helps make the Lions the outright pick.
