Western Kentucky vs. Indiana: Scoring pace meets a 44.5-point spread
Analysis updated September 19, 2026 at 6:16 AM CDT
Indiana is the likely winner. Whether Western Kentucky can sustain drives matters more to the betting decision.
Indiana’s scoring edge
Indiana has scored touchdowns on 14 of 19 offensive drives, while Western Kentucky has allowed more than 480 yards in each of its first two games and 119 points overall, according to Indiana Daily Student, Indiana University’s student newspaper. That matchup favors the Hoosiers, but SPF’s Indiana -44.5 requires a win by at least 45 points to cover.
Western Kentucky produced 17 first downs and 110 rushing yards against Georgia. Those possessions matter here: even modest scoring from the Hilltoppers would raise the demand on Indiana’s offense. The Hoosiers’ defense allowed North Texas 367 yards before holding Howard to 57, so the Howard performance alone doesn’t establish how little Western Kentucky will score.
Quarterback uncertainty and the wager
Indiana Daily Student reports that Western Kentucky coach Tyson Helton expects Rodney Tisdale Jr. and Brock Glenn will probably both play; the starter remained unclear. Glenn rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns against Georgia but completed 12 of 23 passes for 84 yards. His running offers a scoring route, though that passing performance gives little reason to project sustained production.
SPF lists the total at 60.5, with either side priced at -110. Western Kentucky’s uncertain scoring contribution leaves me without a supported total bet. Pass on both the spread and total; the moneyline price is unavailable.
