Kentucky vs. Oklahoma Prediction: Injuries Make Sooners -6.5 Risky

Analysis updated October 16, 2026 at 8:40 AM CDT

Oklahoma is the likely winner in Norman, but injuries and Kentucky’s four-game winning streak make the point spread less appealing than the moneyline favorite.

Oklahoma’s injuries matter against the spread

Oklahoma is a 6.5-point home favorite after beating then-No. 1 Texas 27-24. UK Athletics reports that Kentucky enters at 5-1 overall and 3-1 in SEC play, while the Sooners are 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. That result against Texas supports Oklahoma as the likely winner, but the records don’t justify laying nearly a touchdown by themselves.

Oklahoma’s offensive line may be short-handed. A Sea Of Blue, a Kentucky sports publication, reports that left tackle Michael Fasusi is questionable and starting guard Eddy Pierre-Louis is doubtful. Receiver Parker Livingstone is also doubtful. Those availability concerns make Oklahoma -6.5 harder to back, even though the Sooners have recorded 15 sacks in five games and can pressure Kentucky’s offense.

Kentucky has its own limitations

Kentucky has won four straight, but its past two victories were both 35-34 overtime games, against South Carolina and LSU. The Wildcats have shown they can survive close finishes, though those narrow wins don’t establish that they should beat Oklahoma.

Running back C.J. Baxter is questionable after producing 484 rushing yards and eight touchdowns this season, while defensive end Tyler Thomas is out. Baxter’s status limits the case for Kentucky +6.5, so the spread lean carries low confidence rather than serving as a strong wager.

Prediction and betting lean

Oklahoma is the straight-up pick, but its -238 moneyline offers little value given the unresolved offensive-line injuries. Kentucky +6.5 is the lean because the Sooners may have trouble creating margin, not because Kentucky is expected to win.

The total is 43.5. A Sea Of Blue reports a forecast in the 50s with no rain at kickoff, but the available team data doesn’t support either side of the total. Pass on the over/under.
