Ohio State vs. Indiana Prediction: Hoosiers +3.5
Analysis updated October 16, 2026 at 7:36 AM CDT
Ohio State's productive passing game supports a narrow win, but Indiana's pass rush can keep the Hoosiers within 3.5 points.
Indiana’s pass rush can keep this close
No. 4 Ohio State visits No. 5 Indiana at noon ET on October 17 as a 3.5-point favorite. HoosiersRoundtable, which covers Indiana athletics, reports that the 6-0 Hoosiers have 20 sacks through six games, the third-highest total in the nation. Stephen Daley and Tobi Osunsanmi have five each, giving Indiana a clear way to disrupt Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin.
Sayin has thrown for 1,772 yards, 17 touchdowns and two interceptions. Jeremiah Smith has caught 48 passes for 916 yards and 11 scores. That production makes 5-1 Ohio State the more likely winner, but Indiana’s pressure raises the risk of laying 3.5 points on the road.
Prediction and betting angle
Eleven Warriors, an Ohio State sports publication, reports that Buckeyes running back Ja'Kobi Jackson and offensive lineman Austin Siereveld are out. Indiana also has concerns, with running back Khobie Martin listed as doubtful and tight end Andrew Barker questionable. Those absences don’t support a strong play on either offense or the 50.5-point total.
Ohio State should win, but the -180 moneyline asks too much in a matchup between top-five teams. Indiana +3.5 is the better wager because its pass rush can keep the margin within one score.
