Akron vs. Central Michigan Prediction: Chippewas Likely Winner, but Pass at -258

Analysis updated October 3, 2026 at 7:54 AM CDT

Angel Flores leads a Central Michigan offense that has scored all six of its touchdowns on the ground. The Chippewas should win, but their moneyline is too expensive.

Flores gives Central Michigan the clearest edge

Central Michigan quarterback Angel Flores has rushed 63 times for 320 yards and three touchdowns. The Chippewas have scored all six of their touchdowns on the ground, giving them a clear way to attack an Akron team that has lost three of its first four games.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports that Brayden Roggow is likely to make his second consecutive start for the Zips. Roggow completed 14 of 25 passes for 194 yards with two interceptions in a 38-10 loss to UNLV. Those turnovers make an Akron upset harder to trust.

The price is too high

SportsPicksForum lists Central Michigan as a 6.5-point favorite with a -258 moneyline, while Akron is +210. The Chippewas are 2-2, but their results include a 13-10 home win over Colgate and a 52-3 loss at Miami. That record doesn't justify paying -258 or laying nearly a touchdown.

Akron running back Jordan Gant rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries against UNLV, but one productive game isn't enough to support the underdog. The total is 47.5, and the lack of current weather and defensive data leaves no sound case for an over or under wager.
