Bears vs. Packers Prediction: Bagent Start Makes Chicago -1.5 a Pass
Analysis updated October 11, 2026 at 7:19 AM CDT
Chicago can lean on the NFL's leading rushing attack, but its quarterback change makes a short road-favorite price unattractive.
Chicago's quarterback change shapes the price
The Chicago Bears reported that Tyson Bagent is slated to start after Caleb Williams returned to limited practice Friday following a hamstring injury. Chicago is still favored by 1.5 points at SportsPicksForum, with a -125 moneyline, but backing a road favorite with a replacement quarterback requires more certainty than the available evidence provides.
Chicago entered Week 5 leading the NFL in total offense at 429.0 yards per game, rushing at 196.3 yards per game and time of possession at 36:35 per game. Left guard Joe Thuney, right guard Jonah Jackson and right tackle Darnell Wright also finished the week without injury designations. That gives Bagent a healthier offensive line and a running game capable of limiting how much he must create.
Green Bay's passing game keeps this close
Jordan Love threw at least two touchdown passes in each of Green Bay's first four games, according to the Chicago Bears' official preview. Tight end Tucker Kraft had 15 catches for 148 yards and a touchdown, giving Love a productive option against a Chicago defense that entered the week allowing opponents to convert only 23.7 percent of third downs.
Green Bay's rushing attack offers less help. The Packers entered Week 5 last in the NFL at 58.0 rushing yards per game, Josh Jacobs was on the Commissioner's Exempt list and the Green Bay Packers placed Chris Brooks on injured reserve Saturday. That could force Love to carry the offense, while replacement right tackle Anthony Belton faces a Chicago defense that has been effective on third down.
Prediction
Chicago's rushing production and third-down defense make the Bears the slightly more likely winner. Bagent's scheduled start and Love's early touchdown production leave too little separation to lay 1.5 points or pay -125, so the betting lean is Pass.
