The NFL commissioner spoke out on President Donald Trump's condemning players who kneel in protest during the national anthem and calling on team owners to fire those players. "Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs and players represent in our communities," Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement that did not mention the president by name or directly refer to his comments. Sean Smith's sore neck and shoulder appear to be getting better and Oakland Raiders coach Jack Del Rio is hopeful the veteran cornerback will be able to play Sunday in Washington. Smith was held out of Oakland's Week 2 win over the New York Jets and suffered a setback in practice earlier this week before being a full participant in Friday's workout.
