Oregon traveled to Salt Lake City and upset Utah 30-28 on Saturday, ending the Utes' hopes of winning the Pac-12 South. Utah coach Kyle Whittingham made no secret that winning the division was the objective for 2016 and the next step in the growth of the program. Marcus McMaryion threw for 265 yards and five touchdowns as the Oregon State Beavers snapped a five-game losing streak with a 42-17 victory over Arizona on Saturday night. Ryan Nall ran for 124 yards and another score while Jordan Villamin caught six passes for 124 yards in just the second conference win for the Beavers (3-8, 2-6-Pac-12). Anu Solomon made his first start at quarterback since the opener but was injured in the first quarter and replaced by Brandon Dawkins, who threw for 106 yards and a touchdown while running for 88 yards on 15 carries. Oregon put a serious dent in Utah’s hopes of winning the Pac-12 South. On a Justin Herbert to Darren Carrington touchdown pass with two seconds remaining, the Ducks shocked the 12th-ranked Utes 30-28 in Salt Lake City. Utah simply had to win its last two games over Oregon and Colorado to represent the South in the Pac-12 title game, but the Utes did not get the chance to finish it off against the Buffs.
