There were mixed results in the first week of Georgia Tech's offensive healing. After coach Paul Johnson assumed direct supervision during practice, the spread-option attack moved closer to its usual production in last week's 35-21 loss to No. 10 Miami - at least when quarterback Justin Thomas and the Yellow Jackets were protecting the ball. Thomas, a senior better known for his usually reliable pitches and runs on option plays, knows he has to avoid mistakes when Georgia Tech tries to end a two-game losing streak on Saturday at Pittsburgh. Nate Peterman threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns, including a 54-yard lob to Jester Weah with 1:04 to go as Pittsburgh avoided a second-half meltdown by outlasting Marshall 43-27 on Saturday night. The Panthers (3-2) let a 27-point halftime lead get narrowed to just 30-27 and faced third-and-3 from the Pitt 46 when Peterman found a streaking Weah down the left sideline.
