Virginia Tech's most lopsided victory in several years might have given the Hokies a bit of a swagger heading into this week, but then came some cautionary words about their not-so-stellar recent past against East Carolina. The Pirates (2-1) of the American Athletic Conference have won two straight against the Hokies, and six in a row against Atlantic Coast Conference competition. Coach Brian Kelly said Tuesday the Irish need to get going sooner, starting against Duke (1-2) on Saturday. Continue to Article

Head coach Mike Riley's challenge this week is to make sure his squad avoids a letdown heading into Nebraska's Big Ten Conference opener at Northwestern on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. The fact Huskers (3-0) are playing a Northwestern squad that has given them fits in recent years -- four of the past five meetings have been decided by three points or less including a 30-28 Wildcats win in Lincoln last season -- should make the task a little easier.
