East Carolina is the likely winner at home, but the Pirates’ -380 moneyline offers little value and there isn’t enough verified information to bet the spread or total.
Rice’s running threat matters against the spread
Rice University Athletics reports that quarterback Jacurri Brown rushed for 495 yards and produced 17 runs of at least 10 yards through five games. His ability to create explosive plays on the ground gives the 1-4 Owls a way to shorten possessions and challenge East Carolina’s 10-point spread.
Rice also held UTSA to 110 yards and 3.3 yards per play in the second half of its Oct. 3 loss. That improvement came in a defeat, but a similar defensive stretch would help Rice stay within the number at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
