Seven months to the day after he was struck in the head by a line drive, ending his 2016 season, Los Angeles Angels right-hander Matt Shoemaker will make his first start of 2017 on Tuesday night against the Oakland A's. "I'm not thinking about it at all," Shoemaker said Monday of the incident at Seattle's Safeco Field on Sept. 4. Matt Shoemaker no longer thinks about that line drive that hit him above the right ear last September in Seattle. ''That's what I think is great about it, because I'm not thinking about it at all,'' Shoemaker said Monday. Shoemaker underwent surgery to stop bleeding on his brain immediately after he was struck in the head by a line drive from the Mariners' Kyle Seager on Sept. 4. Continue to Article

Opening Day, Part II, began Monday with baseball remembering its past. Plus some hijinks: Tom Brady's missing Super Bowl jersey was swiped by Patriots teammate Rob Gronkowski in front of a rollicking crowd at Fenway Park. Continue to Article
