Syracuse dropped its ACC opener 96-81 at Boston College, a team that hadn’t won a league game since March 10, 2015. Virginia Tech entered Atlantic Coast Conference play with a sparkling record and several quality wins to its credit, but the Hokies hadn't faced a ranked foe all season. Justin Bibbs scored 18 points to lead Virginia Tech to an 89-75 upset of No. 5 Duke in the ACC opener for both teams. Syracuse announced Monday night that sophomore forward Tyler Lydon strained his right Achilles late in the first half of the Orange’s game against Eastern Michigan. Lydon did not return to the game after halftime. It’s not yet clear whether Lydon will miss future games, but the ESPNU broadcast crew reported that Lydon could have played in the second half had the score been closer and was held out as a precaution.
