Jazz vs. Timberwolves Prediction: Minnesota Is Favored, but the Price Is Too Steep
Analysis updated November 8, 2026 at 1:53 AM CST
Utah’s turnovers and defensive rebounding problems favor Minnesota, but the Timberwolves’ depleted lineup makes this a pass.
Extra possessions favor Minnesota
The Timberwolves are the likely winners after opening 7-3 with three straight victories. According to Utah Jazz / NBA.com, Minnesota entered Saturday second in net rating at plus-11.3 points per 100 possessions and second in defensive rating. Utah has lost seven straight and is finishing a four-stop road trip.
Minnesota also has two specific ways to punish Utah. The Jazz ranked 25th in turnover percentage at 17.6%, while the Timberwolves ranked eighth in opponent turnover percentage. Utah then committed 21 turnovers and allowed 21 offensive rebounds in Friday’s 112-100 loss at Dallas. Minnesota ranked second in offensive-rebound percentage at 35.6%. Those extra-possession advantages support Minnesota as the favorite.
The injuries make both prices difficult to back
The NBA injury report lists Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo as out for Minnesota. Utah will be without Jaren Jackson Jr. and Jusuf Nurkic, while Lauri Markkanen is questionable with a right wrist sprain. Joan Beringer is questionable for the Timberwolves, and probable starters weren’t available.
Minnesota’s stronger form and favorable matchup make it the predicted winner, but the SPF prices require more certainty. The -597 moneyline offers little return with Edwards and DiVincenzo unavailable, while laying 11.5 points asks a depleted Minnesota team to win comfortably. Markkanen’s unresolved status further limits any pregame assessment, so the betting lean is Pass.
