Hornets vs. Nets Prediction: Charlotte Favored, but Pass at -162
Analysis updated November 4, 2026 at 1:18 AM CST
The Hornets have the better record, but their scoring margin and two probable players make Charlotte difficult to back at the SPF price.
Charlotte's record comes with a warning
Charlotte enters Wednesday's game at Barclays Center at 3-5, ahead of Brooklyn at 1-6. SPF makes the Hornets 3.5-point road favorites and lists their moneyline at -162, but Charlotte's early numbers don't justify paying that price: iHeart Sports reports that the Hornets average 97.4 points and allow 108.6 per game.
Brandon Miller leads Charlotte with 23.5 points per game, according to iHeart Sports. The Hornets remain the likelier winner against a Brooklyn team with one victory, but their negative scoring margin makes both the moneyline and the spread difficult to support.
Injuries add uncertainty
WhyNBA, an NBA news site covering the league's injury report, lists Charlotte's Coby White as probable with left-calf injury management and Kon Knueppel as probable with a left hamstring strain. Grant Williams is out with a right hamstring strain, while Brooklyn's Egor Demin is out with a right-leg bone bruise. Because probable designations can change before tipoff, White's and Knueppel's availability should be checked again.
SPF sets the total at 213.5, but the available evidence doesn't include Brooklyn's scoring, defensive or pace figures. That leaves no sound basis for an over or under wager.
Prediction
Charlotte is the projected winner because it has the better record and Brooklyn will be without Demin. The Hornets' -162 moneyline still demands more confidence than their early scoring margin and unsettled availability provide, so the betting lean is Pass.
