Red Wings vs. Oilers Prediction: Pass on Edmonton at -180
Analysis updated October 26, 2026 at 1:23 AM CDT
The Oilers are the likelier winner, but their record does not justify the moneyline price with key lineup questions unresolved.
Edmonton's Record Supports Favoritism
ABC News / Associated Press reports that Edmonton is 8-2-1 overall and 3-1-1 at home, compared with Detroit's 4-4-3 record. The Oilers are also 8-0-1 when scoring at least three goals, making them the more likely winner.
Edmonton enters after a 7-2 loss to Toronto in which Leon Draisaitl scored twice. His production is encouraging, but the seven goals allowed make -180 difficult to justify without confirmed starting goalies.
Injuries Weaken the Price
ABC News / Associated Press lists Mattias Ekholm, Frederik Andersen, Matt Savoie and five other Oilers as out. Detroit is without Mason Appleton and Marco Kasper, while goalie Daniil Tarasov is day-to-day. Those absences and the unsettled goalie assignments also make the 6.5-goal total a pass.
Detroit is 1-0-2 on the road, so it has avoided a regulation loss in each of its first three away games. That small sample does not support a bet on the Red Wings at +150, but it is another reason not to pay Edmonton's -180 price.
Betting Pick
Fade the Public Analytics, which aggregates publicly reported sportsbook betting data, shows Edmonton attracting 89% of moneyline bets and 98% of the reported money. That heavy support does not make the Oilers a bargain. Edmonton is the predicted winner, but the wager is Pass.
