Los Angeles is the likely winner with Tarik Skubal starting, but the available evidence does not justify the Dodgers’ heavy moneyline price.
Skubal gives Los Angeles the pitching edge
True Blue LA reports that Tarik Skubal is scheduled to face Yunior Marté at Oracle Park on September 25. Bay Area Sports Wire lists Skubal at 11-7 with a 2.85 ERA, compared with Marté at 0-1 with a 4.66 ERA. Marté will be making only his fifth MLB appearance and third start, while Skubal is set for his 10th Dodgers start since joining the club from Detroit on August 2.
Neither pitcher handled this matchup cleanly on September 19. Skubal allowed four runs in five innings against San Francisco. Marté allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings against Los Angeles, with a run scoring in every inning he pitched.
