Availability shapes the matchup

The Jets will be without edge rusher Joseph Ossai and receiver Tim Patrick, costing them options on both sides of the ball. Those absences matter with Tennessee favored by 3 points at SPF, but they don’t establish how much better the Titans should be.

The New York Jets’ official Friday injury report lists Ossai out with a foot injury and Patrick out with a groin injury. Breece Hall, Isaiah Davis and Kenyon Sadiq practiced fully and have no game designation, leaving New York with healthier options at running back and tight end.

The same report lists Tennessee linebacker Cedric Gray out with a concussion. Defensive end Keldrick Faulk practiced fully despite a shoulder injury and has no game designation, so the Titans’ defensive absences are limited by his availability.

Betting outlook

The New York Jets’ official game preview says Geno Smith is scheduled to start and identifies Cam Ward as Tennessee’s quarterback. It supplies no performance comparison that would justify backing either offense against SPF’s total of 38.5.

SPF lists Tennessee at -155 and New York at +130 on the moneyline. The Titans are the market favorite, but the injury news alone doesn’t justify paying that price or taking the Jets at +3. Pass on the moneyline, spread and total.
