Chicago Bears rookie RB David Montgomery made his NFL debut Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers and despite all of the excitement surrounding the third-round pick from Iowa State, his impact on the game was minimal. The Bears ultimately lost, 10-3, largely because of the playcalling. The running game was never established by Matt Nagy and Montgomery was limited to just six carries for 18 yards. Carolina Panthers star Cam Newton is excited as he enters his ninth season in the NFL. Newton was chosen with the first pick in the 2011 draft and the quarterback has gone on to earn three Pro-Bowl selections and the 2015 NFL MVP. The opponent is the Los Angeles Rams, who seem to have put to rest any quarterback quizzes for a while with Jared Goff signing an extension on Tuesday.
