Fordham quarterback Kevin Anderson was granted a medical redshirt by the league to return for a fifth season of eligibility. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Anderson was granted the extra year because he sat out his freshman season at Marshall in 2013 while recovering from a broken collarbone he suffered as a high school senior in Boca Raton, Florida. Army has suspended defensive coordinator Jay Bateman for two weeks for mishandling information about the Wake Forest football team. West Point also fined Bateman $25,000 for his role in the so-called WakeyLeaks scandal and ordered him to attend ethics training. Willie Evans, the star black halfback of Buffalo's 1958 team that balked at competing in the Tangerine Bowl because of a rule barring integrated football games, has died. The school announced Evans died in Buffalo on Wednesday after a brief illness. Evans grew up in Buffalo and was a member of UB's 1958 team that went 8-1 and won the Lambert Cup, awarded to the nation's top small school in the East. Continue to Article

In just three years at the helm, Army coach Jeff Monken likely has exceeded his own expectations. The Black Knights put the stamp on a turnaround season Tuesday, beating North Texas in overtime in the Heart of Texas Bowl.
