Packers vs. Lions Prediction: Green Bay +3.5 Has More Appeal Than Detroit’s Moneyline
Analysis updated October 25, 2026 at 7:20 AM CDT
The Lions are -185 favorites at Ford Field, while the Packers’ ability to create long completions gives Green Bay a path to stay within one score.
Packers vs. Lions betting outlook
Green Bay’s downfield passing game targets Detroit’s clearest weakness. The Detroit Lions’ official preview reports that the Packers entered Week 7 ranked second in plays of at least 20 yards and first in completions of at least 50 yards. Detroit had allowed 23 completions of at least 20 yards, the third-most in the NFL. That matchup supports Green Bay +3.5 at the SPF price.
Detroit still deserves to be the likely winner. Jared Goff entered with 12 touchdown passes and no interceptions, and the Lions had committed only one giveaway. Acme Packing Company, a Packers-focused news site, also notes that Detroit scored at least 26 points in each of its first five games. Those numbers favor the Lions outright, but -185 offers little room for a close divisional game.
The Packers’ defense gives the underdog another way to cover. Green Bay entered with an NFL-high nine interceptions and 11 total takeaways, tied for the league lead. It had produced multiple takeaways in three straight games. Detroit’s ball security makes that matchup difficult, so turnover potential strengthens the spread lean without guaranteeing an upset.
Green Bay’s weak running game is the main concern. The Packers entered averaging 2.9 yards per carry and 59.8 rushing yards per game. Running back Josh Jacobs practiced after leaving the commissioner’s exempt list, but his availability and expected workload remained unclear. If Green Bay must rely almost entirely on its passing game, Detroit will have more chances to pressure Jordan Love and limit long drives.
Prediction
Detroit is the likely winner because of its scoring production and care with the ball. The better wager is Green Bay +3.5, with the Packers’ explosive passing game providing a credible path to a close finish.
