Panthers vs. Hurricanes Prediction: Carolina Favored, but Goalie Uncertainty Makes It a Pass
Analysis updated September 29, 2026 at 7:04 AM CDT
The Hurricanes are the likelier winner at home, but their -130 price asks too much without a confirmed starter or current performance data.
Goalie decision limits Carolina’s appeal
Carolina hosts Florida at 5:00 p.m. ET at Lenovo Center as a -130 moneyline favorite, with the Panthers at +110. The Carolina Hurricanes / NHL.com game-day preview says Brandon Bussi may start after Monday’s practice, but Pyotr Kochetkov remains an option. Florida is expected to start Jacob Markstrom.
That uncertainty matters at this price. Carolina is the likelier winner because it is favored at home, but there are no current results, team statistics or line-movement data to show that the Hurricanes warrant a bet at -130.
Key absences add more risk
Carolina will be without Seth Jarvis as he recovers from offseason shoulder surgery, while defenseman Alexander Nikishin is unavailable because he is not under contract. Florida is also missing Brad Marchand, who is expected to be out for about a month.
Those absences do not create a clear betting advantage for either side. Florida’s +110 price is more attractive, but missing performance data cannot be treated as evidence that the Panthers are undervalued. The moneyline is a pass.
