Baltimore’s probable starter Brandon Young brings a 3.42 ERA into Tuesday’s matchup with Cleveland, but the Orioles have hit just .203 over their past 10 games. That combination makes Baltimore a tentative winner pick without a compelling wager at SPF’s -121; Cleveland is +101.
The FOX Sports / Associated Press matchup report lists Tanner Bibee as Cleveland’s probable starter with a 4.06 ERA. Bibee has the lower WHIP, 1.18 against Young’s 1.31, so Young’s advantage in run prevention doesn’t extend to keeping runners off base. Baltimore’s pitching staff has a 3.29 ERA over its last 10 games, compared with Cleveland’s 4.25.
Absences weaken the case for a bet
The same report lists Luis Robert, Tyler O’Neill, Ryan Mountcastle and Jordan Westburg on Baltimore’s injured list.
