Texas Tech vs. Cincinnati Prediction: Red Raiders Should Win, but -455 Is Too Steep
Analysis updated October 24, 2026 at 7:11 AM CDT
Texas Tech has not allowed a rushing touchdown, setting up a strength-on-strength test against Cincinnati’s productive ground game.
Texas Tech’s defense has the matchup edge
FOX Sports reports that Texas Tech has allowed 17.7 points per game and 58 total points across three Big 12 games. Cincinnati has allowed 26.8 points per game, including 79 points and more than 450 yards in each of its past two conference games. That defensive gap makes the unbeaten Red Raiders the likelier winner.
Cincinnati’s best counter is a rushing attack averaging 234 yards per game, according to Lubbock television station KCBD. Quarterback JC French IV has added 245 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns without throwing an interception, but Texas Tech enters Week 8 as the only FBS team that hasn’t allowed a rushing touchdown.
The price calls for a pass
Texas Tech’s 11 interceptions and 17 sacks give its defense more ways to disrupt Cincinnati than the Bearcats have shown defensively. Still, the SPF moneyline asks bettors to lay -455 with the Red Raiders on the road, and the available evidence doesn’t establish value at that price.
Texas Tech should win, but there isn’t enough information about confirmed lineups or the 11.5-point spread to support a wager. Pass.
