Timberwolves vs. Magic Prediction: Pass on Minnesota at -130
Analysis updated October 23, 2026 at 7:09 AM CDT
Anthony Edwards scored 45 points in Minnesota’s opener, while Orlando begins its second game with four players ruled out. The Timberwolves are the likelier winner, but their price isn’t worth backing.
Minnesota has the stronger opening result
SportsPicksForum lists Minnesota as a -130 road favorite, with the Timberwolves laying 1.5 points and Orlando at +110. Field Level Media, a sports news service, reported that Minnesota opened with a 131-106 win at Miami as Anthony Edwards scored 45 points and made nine 3-pointers. That performance favors Minnesota, though one game provides little basis for laying even a modest road price.
Orlando lost its opener 132-125 at home to Atlanta despite 35 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds from Paolo Banchero. Franz Wagner and Wendell Carter Jr. each scored 22, giving the Magic enough scoring to challenge a Minnesota team playing its second consecutive road game.
Injuries favor the Timberwolves
NBA Official’s 7:30 a.m. ET injury report lists four Orlando players out: Anthony Black, Jonathan Isaac, Izaiyah Nelson and Noah Penda. Minnesota’s Donte DiVincenzo is also out following right Achilles tendon surgery. Orlando’s longer absence list strengthens Minnesota’s case as the likely winner, but no projected starters are available to show how those losses will change either rotation.
Betting assessment
The default 50-50 moneyline split isn’t a usable measure of bettor sentiment, and there are no established season trends after one game. Minnesota is the pick to win, but neither the -130 moneyline nor the -1.5 spread offers a clear edge. Pass.
