Rutgers is expected to give AJ Surace his first career start with Boston College favored by 3.5 points at SPF. Yahoo Sports (SB Nation) reports that Dylan Lonergan won't start after suffering an injury late in Rutgers' 37-21 opening loss to UMass. The change leaves bettors assessing a quarterback with only a brief relief appearance to judge.
Surace completed 6 of 9 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown against UMass, according to the same report. Those productive snaps don't establish how he'll perform across a full game, so they aren't a sound reason to back Rutgers at +3.5.
Betting outlook
