Running back Tra Carson was placed on injured reserve (hamstring) Saturday by the Detroit Lions, who promoted running back Paul Perkins to the active roster from the practice squad. Perkins, 24, acquired by Detroit through waivers from the New York Giants on Sept. 18, has played in two games for the 3-3-1 Lions this season. Quarterback Deshaun Watson wore a visor at practice for eye protection Friday and may do so again Sunday for the Houston Texans' game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Watson was inadvertently kicked in the face by former Clemson teammate Clelin Ferrell while pulling out of a sack attempt during the Texans' 27-24 victory over the Oakland Raiders last Sunday. Watson stayed on his feet, wiped at his eye mid-play and, with the left eye closed, threw the go-ahead touchdown to tight end Darren Fells. Continue to Article

A good game stack includes the opponent's player most likely to turn it into a shootout. It's tough to choose between Evans and Godwin as both have high projections this week and have produced similarly on the season. With as popular as this stack will be this week, use it more than once, swapping the Bucs receivers out for each other or try both (you will run out of money quickly though; consider using the Redskins D/ST to help in that case). Blame it on Andrew Luck's early retirement, injuries to Patrick Mahomes, Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger, or dominant defenses in New England and San Francisco but passing numbers in the NFL are down so far this season. A year after the league set records for touchdown passes and passer rating, defenses have rebounded a bit over the first eight weeks. The number of TD passes has dropped from 429 to 370 in the same number of games in the first eight weeks, and there have also been drops in net yards passing (505.1 to 478.7) and passer rating (93.9 to 92).
