Guard Kyle Long felt whole again Friday after returning to practice with the Chicago Bears for the first time since late October. Following seven missed games after foot surgery, Long is hoping to come off injured reserve in time for the Bears' first playoff game in January, if not before. After having to retool his blitz package because other teams have caught on to it and emulated it, Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said he's had to make adjustments as the season went on. Zimmer again has opposing quarterbacks running for safety while Minnesota's pass defense is wreaking weekly havoc. Entering Sunday's game at Detroit, the Vikings lead the league with 47 sacks. According to Nathan Fenno of the Los Angeles Times, Young was released on Saturday from the California Health Care Facility in Stockton, Calif. He had pleaded no contest to assault charges in South Los Angeles for beating a neighbor with his fists and a metal object in January 2016. In all, Young accumulated over 20 criminal charges against him since 2013. Young was a second-round pick of the Lions in 2011 and caught 81 passes for 990 yards and 10 touchdowns in his two seasons in Detroit. Continue to Article
