The better way to key defensive success is to stop running back Aaron Jones, who's averaging 5.6 yards per attempt in 11 games this year. Drilling deeper: Jones is averaging 6.5 yards per carry in the five four wins in which he's played; in seven losses, he's still averaging 5.0 yards per carry. The Falcons and Packers had a skirmish on the field after a hit on Aaron Rodgers that some in Green Bay thought was dirty. The NFL ruled that the hit on Rodgers was OK, but what happened afterward was not. Falcons linebacker Deion Jones was fined $33,425 for jumping into a fight in the ensuing skirmish, while Packers offensive lineman Corey Linsley $10,026 for unnecessary roughness as part of the same incident. Former University of Pittsburgh and Atlanta Falcons offensive lineman Bill Fralic died on Friday. Fralic was a two-time All-American while playing tackle at Pitt and was selected by the Falcons with the second overall pick in the 1985 draft. Fralic moved to guard in the pros and was named a first-team All-Pro twice during eight seasons in Atlanta. Continue to Article

Coach Dan Quinn is not quite ready to look at rebuilding the Atlanta Falcons' running game for next year. With top back Devonta Freeman injured most of the year and both starting guards on season-ending injured reserve, Atlanta is averaging 81.2 yards per game - last in the NFL. Now, the self-effacing, self-deprecating Philbin wants to keep the momentum going from Sunday's win over the Atlanta Falcons to keep alive Green Bay's slim playoff hopes.
