Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish won in his first Major League Baseball start after almost 22 months, striking out seven batters in five innings in returning from elbow surgery. The 29-year-old Japanese right-hander threw 51 strikes among his 81 pitches against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing one run on three hits with one walk to earn the decision, departing with his team ahead 4-1 on the way to a 5-2 victory.
