Arizona Diamondbacks
(Reuters) - Sports network ESPN fired former baseball player Curt Schilling after reports of recent anti-transgender comments on social media. "ESPN is an inclusive company. Curt Schilling has been advised that his conduct was unacceptable and his employment with ESPN has been terminated," ESPN said in a statement on Wednesday. Continue to Article

Johnny Cueto couldn't ask for a better beginning to his San Francisco Giants' tenure. Shelby Miller's short time with the Arizona Diamondbacks couldn't have started much worse. As Miller seeks an elusive first win with his new team, Cueto aims for his fourth while attempting to prevent the streaking Diamondbacks from a four-game series sweep Thursday. Continue to Article

Arizona Diamondbacks
Zack Greinke's body has caught up with his delivery and he's pitching better every out, a good sign for a team getting on a roll heading into a long homestand. Greinke and Madison Bumgarner both pitched well in a showdown of NL West aces, but Welington Castillo hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning to help the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Wednesday night. ''This was definitely the best I've felt all season,'' Greinke said. Continue to Article

San Francisco Giants
This has been one interesting week at AT&T Park in San Francisco, and that's not even taking into account the entertaining series being played by the Diamondbacks and Giants.  The real action and entertainment is happening in the stands, and that continued during the D-Backs 2-1 win on Wednesday night when a fan dressed as the "Duffman" character from "The Simpsons" fame caught an Arizona home run and tossed it back on the field.  @Sports_Buss Duffman is at AT&T Park tonight 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/uARHSHct0Q — Ryan Ostrander 88 (@rostrander13) April 21, 2016 The equally bizarre and hilarious moment played out during the seventh inning. Arizona's Wellington Castillo turned on a pitch from Madison Bumgarner and smoked it into the left-center field seats, which is where our dressed up fan was apparently hanging around. All we really know for sure is that he emerged a pile of fans with baseball in hand after it seemed to disappear down an aisle.  [Elsewhere: ESPN fires Curt Schilling after latest controversy ] There was also no question about his allegiance upon viewing his outfit. It's a clear nod to Giants infielder Matt Duffy, who once had Duffman decals on his bats . Still, the fan confirmed his loyalty by reportedly firing the baseball back on the field. Was that Duffman who chucked that DBack homer ball back in at the @SFGiants game just now? #MmmmmBeeeeeeer — jayohwhy (@jayohwhy) April 21, 2016 We never actually see the toss but we definitely see him winding up.   Most Giants fans would probably agree it was a heroic effort. Perhaps even one that will restore their collective image after a fan was  escorted from the stadium in shame after innocently interfering with a live ball during Monday's game. That was a tough moment to watch and a tough moment for other Giants fans to explain, but Duffman saved the day by changing the conversation on Wednesday.  [ The Walk Off: Jordan Zimmermann still hasn't allowed a run in 2016 ] Unfortunately, neither Duffman the fan nor Matt Duffy, who doubled twice, could save the Giants despite their best efforts. In fact, Duffy ended up being left stranded at third base as the tying run when the game ended.  So close, Duffmen, yet so far away.  More MLB coverage from Yahoo Sports: - - - - - - - Mark Townsend is a writer for Big League Stew on Yahoo Sports.
