Kings vs. Pelicans Prediction: New Orleans Is the Likely Winner, but Pass at -230
Analysis updated October 29, 2026 at 7:22 AM CDT
The Pelicans have the stronger early numbers and face a short-handed Kings team. Their winless start, short rest and unresolved lineup still make the moneyline difficult to back.
New Orleans has the statistical edge
ESPN / Data Skrive reports that both teams enter Thursday 0-4, but New Orleans has scored 124.7 points per game to Sacramento’s 107.8. The Pelicans also lead the Kings in rebounds per game, 45.3 to 41.5, and assists, 24.7 to 22.8. Those early numbers support New Orleans as the likely winner.
Sacramento has allowed 125.5 points per game, while New Orleans has allowed 122.0. Neither four-game sample makes the Pelicans trustworthy at a steep price, but Sacramento’s weaker scoring and defensive numbers explain why New Orleans is favored.
Injuries and rest weaken the betting case
Sacramento will be without Dylan Cardwell, Maxime Raynaud, Keegan Murray and Ben Simmons. New Orleans will be without Yves Missi, and Jordan Poole is a game-time decision because of an ankle injury. The Kings’ absences favor the Pelicans, but Poole’s uncertain status leaves a meaningful part of the New Orleans lineup unresolved.
New Orleans lost 104-91 to Denver on Wednesday and will play without a rest day. Sacramento has had an extra day off since Tuesday’s 130-103 loss at San Antonio. That scheduling difference makes it harder to lay 5.5 points or pay -230 for the Pelicans.
Betting pick
SPF lists New Orleans at -230 on the moneyline and -5.5 against the spread, with Sacramento at +190 and +5.5. The total is 236.5. New Orleans is the likelier winner, but an 0-4 team on a back-to-back with Poole’s availability unsettled isn’t worth backing at -230. Pass.
