During the second period of the Montreal Canadiens' 5-2 victory over the Washington Capitals on Friday, Alexander Ovechkin laid a monstrous hit on Habs forward Jonathan Drouin. Drouin did leave the game after the collision but returned to finish the contest. After the match was over, Ovechkin was asked about the thunderous check, saying that there was nothing wrong with it. Tomas Tatar had a goal with three assists and Phillip Danault recorded one with two helpers as the visiting Montreal Canadiens used a four-goal second period to win their third straight, 5-2, and end the Washington Capitals' 13-game point streak on Friday night. Jordan Greenway notched the game-winning goal in the third period as the Minnesota Wild defeated Arizona for the second time in six days, dropping the visiting Coyotes 3-2 on Thursday night. Minnesota's Joel Eriksson Ek won a faceoff, and Jonas Brodin's blast from near the blue line caromed off Arizona defenseman Aaron Ness and then Greenway for the latter's first goal at 12:11. Zach Parise notched a goal and an assist, Kevin Fiala scored and Devan Dubnyk stopped 27 shots for the Wild, who won 4-3 in Arizona on Saturday. Continue to Article

Ryan Hartman scored the go-ahead goal early into the third period and the Minnesota Wild skated to a 4-3 victory over the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday in Glendale, Ariz. Captain Mikko Koivu scored his franchise-best 60th power-play goal and Kevin Fiala and defenseman Matt Dumba also tallied for the Wild, who are just 3-9-0 on the road this season. Former Coyotes goaltender Devan Dubnyk turned aside 32 shots as Minnesota improved to 8-2-1 record in its last 11 games in the Grand Canyon State. Continue to Article
