After taking a bit of time to mull it over, The Great One has decided not to make his return behind the bench at this winter's Spengler Cup. Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic reported on Tuesday that Wayne Gretzky had been approached by Sean Burke about leading Canada's team at the upcoming tournament. Burke is the general manager for the Canadian entry at what is often referred to as the oldest invitational ice hockey tournament in the world. Continue to Article

SAN JOSE -- Suffice to say, the Sharks don't look like the same team that started a six-game homestand on Nov. 1 with one of the worst records in the NHL. With a 6-3 win over the Pacific Division-leading Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night, the Sharks have won four in a row and appear to be climbing out of the hole they dug themselves in the first month of the season. Brent Burns, Evander Kane and Patrick Marleau scored first-period goals, and the host San Jose Sharks went on to claim a 6-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. Martin Jones made 21 saves while Erik Karlsson collected three assists for the Sharks, who have won four straight games. San Jose has an 8-0-1 record in its past nine meetings with Edmonton. Tim Heed will file back into the lineup on Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers with Mario Ferraro and Dalton Prout not quite ready to return to game action. Continue to Article

St. Louis
Like yours truly after a bad breakup, Jordan Binnington just can't seem to move on. Despite the fact the Calder Memorial Trophy was awarded to Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks at the 2019 NHL Awards way back in June, the St. Louis Blues goaltender hasn't let go of the fact he wasn't named the league's top rookie last season. “There's a little bit of that bad taste in my mouth about the outcome last year,” Binnington said following St. Louis' 2-1 overtime victory over Vancouver on Tuesday night, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
