The St. Louis Cardinals and the owner of radio station KMOX-AM said Friday that Cardinals games will continue to air on the station through the 2024 season as part of a five-year extension to their radio rights agreement. With the extension, KMOX, owned by Entercom Communications Corp., will remain the Cardinals flagship station and broadcast all regular season games, postseason matchups and spring training contests. Adam Wainwright has agreed to a one-year contract to return to the St. Louis Cardinals for a 16th season. The deal is for $5 million plus up to $5 million in incentives, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported. The New York Yankees will have Aroldis Chapman back in 2020 closing games for them. Chapman had an option to opt-out of his contract with the Yankees and test the free-agent market but instead signed an extension that will keep him in pinstripes through the 2022 season, ESPN reported. Reliever Aroldis Chapman will attempt to secure a contract extension with the New York Yankees before Saturday or opt out of the final two years and $30 million remaining on his current deal with the club, MLB Network announced. If Chapman opts out, the Yankees are expected to present him with a $17.8 million qualifying offer for 2020, according to the report.
