Andrelton Simmons' sharp grounder off the glove of first baseman Kyle Tucker scored Kaleb Cowart from third base in the bottom of the 12th inning to lift the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-3 win over the visiting Houston Astros on Thursday night in Anaheim, Calif. Cowart led off the winning rally with a walk and then stole second. Two outs later, Tucker was unable to field Simmons' one-hopper -- it was ruled an error -- and the Angels kept the Astros from clinching home field in the American League playoffs. Astros shortstop Carlos Correa will miss the rest of the regular season due to his back injury, manager AJ Hinch said prior to Houston's Thursday night game against the Los Angeles Angels. Tim Anderson went 4-for-5 to remain atop the American League batting race and help the host Chicago White Sox defeat the Indians 8-3 on Wednesday night, eliminating Cleveland from the American League Central race. The Indians' loss, coupled with the Twins' 5-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers earlier in the night, ended Cleveland's bid for a fourth straight AL Central crown. Frankie Montas returns from his 80-game PED suspension Wednesday night, as the A's take on the Angels in a critical game in Anaheim. Montas, 26, was having a career-year before his suspension, going 9-2 with a 2.70 ERA in 15 starts. The right-hander has been throwing simulated games every five days at the A's training complex in Arizona, throwing upwards of 100 pitches, but he hasn't pitched in a real game since June 20.
