Rizzo was injured when he charged to field a bunt single off the bat of Pittsburgh pitcher Trevor Williams in the third inning with a runner on second and none out. His ankle rolled in an unsightly manner just prior to gloving the bunt and he dropped to the grass in obvious pain after throwing the ball to first. The 30-year-old Rizzo was eventually helped to his feet and outfielder Jason Heyward and a member of the team's medical crew helped him get to the dugout. Continue to Article

When I came to Seattle in 2001, no position player had ever come from Japan before. Continue to Article

The Pittsburgh Pirates used triples from Cole Tucker and starting pitcher Joe Musgrove to build a lead, then got a home run from Jacob Stallings as insurance in a 4-2 win over the host San Francisco Giants on Thursday afternoon. Musgrove (10-12) pitched five shutout innings, and Felipe Vazquez recorded his third save in four days, allowing the Pirates to take three of four in the series and five of seven from the Giants this season. After an RBI double by Jose Osuna gaven the Pirates a 1-0 lead against Giants right-hander Jeff Samardzija in the first inning, Tucker tripled and made it 2-0 in the fourth on Kevin Kramer's sacrifice fly. Pittsburgh
Through a long, losing season, the Pittsburgh Pirates have learned to celebrate each other for even the small accomplishments and try to push forward from the times of turmoil — like this week's embarrassing clubhouse fight between a pair of relief pitchers. Felipe Vázquez earned his 27th save two days after punching Kyle Crick in the clubhouse as the Pirates beat the San Francisco Giants 6-3 on Wednesday night. Pittsburgh got a welcome lift after Crick required season-ending finger surgery Tuesday following the scrap with Vázquez before Monday's win, which prompted a team meeting. Continue to Article
