The Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday designated Opening Day starter Jhoulys Chacin for assignment, making room on the 40-man roster for utility player Cory Spangenberg. Chacin, a 31-year-old right-hander, strained his right lat while batting in a game against the Cincinnati Reds on July 24, and the next day was put on the injured list.
