Adam Duvall had two solo home runs among four hits, Josh Donaldson crushed a three-run homer and Julio Teheran allowed just two runs as the Atlanta Braves blasted the host Washington Nationals 11-8 on Tuesday to even their three-game series. Ozzie Albies and Ender Inciarte each had three hits as Atlanta won for just the fifth time in 13 games. The Nationals, meanwhile, are still 38-19 since May 24. Continue to Article

Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer was placed on the injured list on Monday due to a rhomboid strain in his upper back. It is just the fourth time in his career he has landed on the IL, meaning he has been on the IL as many times in the last three weeks as he was in his previous 11-plus years in Major League Baseball combined. The Nationals announced Monday that Scherzer was placed on the IL with a minor rhomboid strain. The injury is in the same area as the inflammation under his right shoulder that forced the ace right-hander to the IL for 19 days earlier this month. Continue to Article

The Toronto Blue Jays agreed to trade infielder Eric Sogard to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday for a player to be named later, according to multiple reports. The deal is pending completion of a physical for the 33-year-old Sogard, who was scratched from the Blue Jays' lineup just before Sunday afternoon's game against the visiting Rays. Sogard is having the best year of his nine-year career, batting .300 with a career-high 10 homers and 30 RBIs in 73 games. Continue to Article
