Brett Anderson allowed only two hits in 7 2/3 scoreless innings to lead the Oakland A's to a 4-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night in Anaheim, Calif. Anderson did not allow a runner to reach second base until Luis Rengifo doubled with two out in the eighth, the last batter Anderson faced in the game. The New York Yankees made history in a hurry Tuesday. Leadoff man DJ LeMahieu went deep leading off the bottom of the first inning against the Toronto Blue Jays, allowing the Yankees to break the major league record for most consecutive games with a home run, 28. The Yankees broke a tie with the 2002 Texas Rangers for longest home run streak, with LeMahieu getting the record out of the way early on the sixth pitch from Blue Jays starter Clayton Richard. The Texas Rangers activated outfielder Joey Gallo from the 10-day injured list in time to start Tuesday night's game in Detroit. The Rangers had a spot open on the roster after optioning left-handed pitcher Kyle Bird to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday. Gallo, 25, last played June 1 and came out of that game against Kansas City in the fifth inning while he was at the plate with a 3-2 count. Continue to Article
