The Texas Rangers activated outfielder Joey Gallo from the 10-day injured list in time to start Tuesday night's game in Detroit. The Rangers had a spot open on the roster after optioning left-handed pitcher Kyle Bird to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday. Gallo, 25, last played June 1 and came out of that game against Kansas City in the fifth inning while he was at the plate with a 3-2 count. Continue to Article

The Texas Rangers just announced that they will retire Michael Young's number 10 on Saturday, August 31. The other four are Iván Rodríguez, Johnny Oates, Adirán Beltré and Nolan Ryan. The honor for Young has long been expected, as the Rangers have not given anyone the number 10 since he left Texas following the 2012 season. Continue to Article

Red Sox place RHP Ryan Brasier on bereavement/family medical emergency list originally appeared on nbcsportsboston.com One night after he allowed the go-ahead RBI single in the 11th inning, the Red Sox have placed Ryan Brasier on the bereavement/family medical emergency list. Brasier, 31, has posted a 3.77 ERA in 28.2 innings this season.
