Pittsburgh's Josh Bell won an impromptu home run derby with a 474-foot solo blast and added an RBI double Sunday as the Pirates topped the visiting Cincinnati Reds 7-5 for a sweep of a four-game series. Bell was 2-for-3 with a walk and has two homers and three doubles in the past two days. Adam Frazier also homered for Pittsburgh, and Melky Cabrera was 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Continue to Article

If Reds fans didn't love Yasiel Puig already, Sunday's matinee in Pittsburgh probably won them over. In a fracas that began with Derek Dietrich admiring his mammoth second inning home run, and continued with Chris Archer throwing behind him in his next at-bat, it was Puig who became a star in Cincinnati by rushing out of the dugout and attempting to fight all of Pittsburgh by himself. Just look at the beautiful image the bench-clearing dust-up gave us: Reds manager David Bell, Puig, Amir Garrett, Keone Kela and Felipe Vázquez were all ejected when the dust cleared, because, of course. With Williams' second start scheduled for Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Tanner Roark (0-0, 6.23 ERA), the Pirates are hoping dominant starts are indeed his new norm. It's a small sample size, of course, but Williams not only held the Reds to three hits in six scoreless innings with six strikeouts and a walk on 80 pitches, but he also drove in two runs Sunday in a 5-0 win over Cincinnati with an RBI single and a bases-loaded walk. Whatever chance the Pittsburgh Pirates have of elbowing their way into the conversation in the NL Central hinges largely on their starting rotation living up to the hype. Joe Musgrove allowed three hits in seven efficient innings and the Pirates handed the Reds their third straight shutout with a 2-0 victory on Friday night.
