It may take a while for the New York Yankees to finish their three games in Detroit this season. The Yankees and Tigers were rained out Saturday, with bad weather threatening to wash away most of New York's only scheduled visit to the Motor City this year. The Yankees beat the Tigers 8-6 on Friday night, and the teams will try to play a split doubleheader Sunday to finish this three-game series - but the weather then might not be any better. Marlins CEO Derek Jeter will sit out a trip to his old stomping grounds. "I went to the Spring Training game when we played New York," he said. "But it would be an awkward situation for me to actually go to Yankee Stadium. Continue to Article

Red Sox pitcher Rick Porcello lost his bid for a no-hitter when Yankees slugger Aaron Judge led off the seventh with a double. Porcello stayed in after a 45-minute rain delay and retired the Yankees in order in the sixth. But Judge got New York's first hit in the seventh, and Giancarlo Stanton followed with a single. Stanton became the Yankees' first baserunner when he was hit by a pitch in the fourth. Porcello got out of the jam in the seventh, preserving Boston's 6-0 lead on Thursday night. He has six strikeouts and no walks. Continue to Article

Red Sox left-hander David Price has been pulled from a start against the New York Yankees after experiencing a tingling sensation in his left hand. The team said during Wednesday's game that he will be evaluated further. Price pitched one inning, giving up four runs and three hits, including a home run to Gary Sanchez. Price was shaking his hand during the inning. It was the shortest start of Price's career. His previous low came in his second major league season with Tampa Bay, when he was pulled after 1 1/3 innings against the Rangers on July 4, 2009. Price entered having surrendered no runs and seven hits in 14 innings during his first two starts this season. More AP baseball: www.apnews.com/tags/MLBbaseball Continue to Article

It's early. The weather is still frosty in New York City. He's having to adjust to American League pitchers after spending his entire career in the NL. These are all reasons why Giancarlo Stanton, the New York Yankees' prized offseason acquisition, might be struggling so mightily. But his stretch of futility to begin the 2018 season is unprecedented. Stanton has struck out five times in a game twice, both times without a base knock anywhere in-between. According to ESPN Stats & Info, that's the first time that's ever happened in the live ball era. The Yankees have played just 10 games. In total, Stanton has struck 20 times in just 42 at-bats, resulting in an astronomical strikeout rate and earning Continue to Article
