New York Mets
Mets manager Terry Collins responded on Friday to a report that he ignored directives from the front office regarding how he used the bullpen. "No," Collins said when asked if he ever heard from the front office about issues with his bullpen usage. "Time to pile on," he added. Collins also bristled at the notion that misuse by him led to Jeurys Familia's shoulder surgery. "It's part of the job," Collins said about the overall criticism. "You sit here, you make decisions that you think are in the best interest -- there are certainly a lot of factors involved. We don't send anybody out to hurt anybody. Never have, never will. There's players, the training staff, coaches all have inputs and you Continue to Article

New York Mets
At Citi, we're baseball fanatics. And if you're reading this, we're guessing you are too. We know the feeling of sitting through a long day at work, waiting to get out and head to Citi Field for the game. We also know the feeling of counting down the days from the end of one baseball season to the next. We feel your pain, but hear us out - the end of baseball season doesn't have to be all bad. It's the time in between seasons that reminds us why we love our team and the game. We catch ourselves staring wistfully at the Mets trinkets on our desks, pinning up our ticket stubs, aimlessly scrolling through our Mr. Met photos and reminiscing about our favorite trips to Citi Field, already anxious Continue to Article

Philadelphia Phillies
Pete Mackanin will not manage the Phillies after Sunday's season finale, but he does have a future with the organization. He will become a front-office adviser next season. His coaching staff does not have the same clarity. General manager Matt Klentak told the team's coaches on Friday that they would become "free agents" after the season ended on Sunday. "He thanked everybody and said everybody did a great job," bench coach Larry Bowa said. "He said whoever the [new] manager might be, we’re going to tell him about our staff and we think you did a good job and it’s going to be up to that manager to interview you. And he said, but if any of you guys want to make calls on Monday, you’re like free Continue to Article

Philadelphia Phillies
Matt Klentak could not spell out a hard and fast reason for firing Pete Mackanin as Phillies manager on Friday, but a theme did emerge in his comments during a news conference to announce the move.   Klentak, 37, mentioned several times the youth that the team had injected into its roster in recent months. "In my mind, we have reached a turning point in this rebuild," Klentak said as Mackanin sat stoically by his side at a dais in the same Citizens Bank Park interview room that has been the site of many notable comings and goings the last decade. "As you all know, we have turned over this roster considerably over the last two years and especially in the last few months. We see our roster right Continue to Article
