Things you should know about tonight's game... 1) Kevin Plawecki hit a two-run homer and the Mets scored three times in the seventh to break open a close game. Nori Aoki doubled in two runs and Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Dominic Smith had a two-out RBI single in the sixth while Mark Reynolds finished with two hits. 2) Rafael Montero struggled through five innings, despite allowing one run. The 26-year-old surrendered four hits and struck out five, but matched his season-high with five walks, the second consecutive start he's issued five free passes. 3) Chasen Bradford, Josh Smoker, Jeurys Familia and Jamie Callahan struck out four and walked one in four hitless Continue to Article

Mets RHP Noah Syndergaard will continue his rehab assignment by throwing approximately 50 pitches in a simulated game on on Sunday. According to NJ.com, the Mets expect Syndergaard to re-join the big league club at some point next week -- potentially during a three-game series against the Cubs where he could pitch out of the bullpen. "We'll see how tomorrow goes, but we're hoping to get him in over the next 3-4 days," manager Terry Collins said. Syndergaard allowed three runs on three hits in two innings on Thursday in a rehab start for Single-A Brooklyn. He walked two and struck out two batters in his second rehab assignment. He threw 36 pitches in the outing. Syndergaard walked the game's leadoff Continue to Article

New York Mets
It's hard to imagine Matt Harvey's season going any worse. After posting a 4.86 ERA in just 17 starts in 2016, he has followed it with a 5.97 ERA in 2017, capped off by the worst start of his career last weekend in Houston. He lasted just two innings and allowed eight hits, seven runs, threw two wild pitches, and hit a batter. Mercifully, the Mets scrapped an ill-conceived plan to have him start on short rest, but at this point, it just feels like delaying the inevitable. Are we seeing the end of Matt Harvey? Not many pitchers have returned to form after being treated for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, though few had his stature prior to it. Chris Carpenter, Cy Young winner with the 2005 Cardinals, Continue to Article

Taking a break from trying to lead the Cincinnati Bengals into the playoffs, quarterback Andy Dalton and star wide receiver A.J. Green will try to lead a chicken dance on Cincinnati's Fountain Square. The Bengals will be off that Sunday after playing a Thursday night NFL game. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to attend Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, running Sept. 15-17. Continue to Article

New York Mets
Mets INF Jose Reyes is certain that he wants to finish his big league career with the Mets, per The Post's Mike Puma. Following this season, Reyes will become a free agent as his club option is the last leg of his contract he signed over a year ago. He hopes he can sign another contract with the Mets this offseason as he can see no other place to finish his career.  "Did I want to come here? For sure," Reyes said. "Do I want to finish my career here? One hundred percent." "At this point I just want to be here because it's home for me and this is where I feel comfortable playing, but I don't have that in my hands."  Reyes left the Mets in 2011 to join the Marlins while the Rockies released him Continue to Article
