New York Mets
Lately, Mets manager Terry Collins has acted so mellow, so indifferent to the losing and injuries, that it seems to me that he's accepted he will not be back next season. And, interstingly, he also seems OK with it. According to multiple reports, Collins has told people he's unsure if he'll return to managing after this season. There have not been any reports indicating Collins and the Mets have discussed a contract extension. Basically, it's time. His job here is done. Remember, when he was first hired, the Mets were looking for someone to help change the clubhouse culture. They wanted someone old school and disciplined, who would be good leading a young team about to lose a lot and enter a Continue to Article

New York Mets
A worn-down Terry Collins candidly disclosed at the end of the last season that 2017 might be his final year managing if he felt health-wise at the end of this season like he did at that time. And given Collins is in the final year of his contract and the Mets are 39-47 at the All-Star break, it's hardly a leap to suggest the Mets will be changing managers during the offseason, while portraying it as Collins' decision. Assuming that materializes, who are the logical candidates for Sandy Alderson to turn to as manager?  Bob Geren, Dodgers bench coach A former manager of the Athletics, Geren was well-regarded by the Mets front office while serving as bench coach in Queens. He opted to take the Continue to Article

Mets OF Michael Conforto will undergo surgery to repair a torn posterior capsule in his left shoulder, the Mets announced Monday. According to NJ.com's Abbey Mastracco, Conforto will have his surgery with Dr. Neil El Attrache in Los Angeles this week. He is expected to need four-to-six months to recover, Kristie Ackert of the NY Daily News reported last week. Mets doctors reportedly suggested Conforto undergo surgery, though he also went for a second opinion. Conforto suffered the injury on a swing on Aug. 24 during a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 24-year-old Conforto, who played in his first All-Star Game in July, was hitting .279 with 27 home runs and 68 RBI in 109 games for the Continue to Article

New York Mets
The Mets snapped a four-game losing streak Monday. The Mets (59-78) and Jacob deGrom (14-8, 3.43 ERA) play the second game of a three-game series against the Phillies (52-85) and Ben Lively (2-5, 4.22 ERA) on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. at Citi Field. David Wright will undergo surgery on his right rotator cuff; Michael Conforto will have surgery to repair a torn posterior capsule in his shoulder; T.J. Rivera will have Tommy John surgery; Josh Edgin will undergo knee surgery; Wilmer Flores broke his nose after fouling a ball off his face; Amed Rosario is day-to-day with a bruised right index finger; and - because, apparently pain isn't confined to just players - Lady Gaga is also sick after playing Citi Field in the rain last week, forcing her to postpone her next concert.
