As Hurricane Harvey approaches Texas, the Houston Texans and Houston Astros are among the teams pondering their options, as the storm is expected to make landfall and then stall along the coastline heading into next week. The Texans are currently in New Orleans for Saturday's preseason game against the Saints. After they return home, however, they could face a decision for next Thursday's exhibition finale against the Dallas Cowboys. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said there have been conversations about moving that game from Houston's NRG Stadium to AT&T Stadium, if necessary. "Let's see what happens," Texans coach Bill O'Brien told reporters Thursday about the Texans' plans Continue to Article

As Hurricane Harvey bears down on the Texas coast, sports teams in Houston and beyond are making contingency plans for how to deal with the storm and its aftermath. The Texans, Astros and Rangers are all on the road this weekend, so they won't have to reschedule any games in the short term, but their travel plans figure to be affected if the forecast of a potential 15 inches of rain in Houston holds up. The Texans have been holding joint practices with the Saints in Louisiana ahead of Saturday night's preseason game in New Orleans. Continue to Article

HOUSTON — A subplot to Friday night’s game at Minute Maid Park is one that will likely repeat itself often over the next few years. The A’s and Astros boast two of the better young third basemen in the American League in Matt Chapman and Alex Bregman. Both are under 25, excellent with the glove and sure to face each other plenty as AL West opponents. The difference right now is Bregman is a key piece to a team likely to contend for the World Series. Dallas Keuchel dominated the A’s on the mound Friday, but he got a huge assist from his 23-year-old third baseman. Bregman made several standout defensive plays and drilled an opposite-field homer off Sean Manaea in the Astros’ 3-1 victory. Paying Continue to Article
