The Miami Dolphins are doing something I thought for sure the San Francisco 49ers would have seized on by now – and no, I don’t mean hiring Adam Gase as the head coach. The 49ers would never consider something as daft as that. No, the Dolphins are creating standing-room only areas at Dolphin Stadium in which, for $40, you get a chance to lean on a rail and fiddle with your phone, like you apparently like to do at bars. No seat. No parking. The beers are just as expensive. But you get to stand and either watch a game, or not, depending on your already unreliable attention span. The Dolphins claim they got the idea from the Chicago Cubs, who sold standing room seats for their World Series run. Continue to Article

SAN FRANCISCO — “I have nothing to apologize for,” Joe Maddon said in the middle of a response that lasted more than two minutes and 400-plus words, firing back at an editorial in his hometown newspaper that criticized the Cubs manager for how he’s positioned his charitable foundation. The Wilkes-Barre newspaper picked apart Maddon’s recent interview with NBC News where he promoted his Hazleton Integration Project and sent a “help or die” message to the sections of the city resistant to new waves of immigration. “Obviously, it’s based on the fact that I mentioned the word ‘die,’” Maddon said during his media session before a game against the San Francisco Giants. “And understanding that if you choose not to, it’s still going to change anyway, even when you’re gone. Buster Posey twice watched plays he was part of go to replay, first on a three-run homer that held up and then a stolen base. A rare stolen base for San Francisco's catcher, who now has five to move within one of his career high set last season. ''I told Span I'm tied with him now so he needs to step it up,'' Posey said. SAN FRANCISCO — As umpires back in New York replayed his stolen base over and over again, Buster Posey turned and watched it on the scoreboard at AT&T Park. He looked up at Javier Baez, the Fastest Tagger Alive. “I think you got me,” Posey said.  The umpires disagreed, and moments later Posey was racing around third for the final run of a 6-3 win over the Chicago Cubs.  “It was really close,” Posey said of the play. “I guess I’m a little faster than I thought.” When the margins are that thin, perhaps he benefits from the occasional position change. With Brandon Belt on the disabled list and a left-hander on the mound, Bruce Bochy shifted Posey to first and put Nick Hundley behind the plate. Posey Continue to Article

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Brian Dozier hit his first career grand slam and Max Kepler and Eddie Rosario each homered twice, powering the Minnesota Twins past the Milwaukee Brewers 11-4 on Tuesday night for a two-game sweep. Matt Garza (5-6) turned in his shortest Continue to Article
