Joe Ross, 24, will have Tommy John surgery this coming Wednesday, according to reports out of Cincinnati this afternoom. Both GM Mike Rizzo and Washington Nationals skipper Dusty Baker were concerned but careful in their wording when they talked Friday about waiting for the results of Joe Rosss MRI arthrogram on his right elbow. Dusty Baker said before the All-Star Break that he was happy for all five Washington Nationals who were picked to appear in the Midsummer Classic, and wasn’t worried about the Nationals’ All-Stars traveling to Miami, FL and playing instead of getting much-needed rest over the break. “I always want them to get the accolades they deserve,” Baker said. “They definitely deserve to go to the All-Star game.” Coming back for the second-half, however, the 68-year-old veteran of 22 seasons on the bench in the majors, said he was also determined to make sure his All-Stars did get time off. Washington started the second half with a win in the series opener in Cincinnati, with Gio Gonzalez putting together an impressive start and Bryce Harper homering twice in a 5-0 win over the Reds. Tim Tebow's one-out, solo homer in the bottom of the seventh inning sent the Class A St. Lucie Mets to a dramatic 5-4 comeback victory Thursday night over the Daytona Tortugas. Tebow belted the 0-1 fastball from Cincinnati Reds minor leaguer Austin Orewiler over the left-field fence, sending a crowd of 2,667 at First Data Field into a frenzy.
